Axminster Primary Academy is a school where the community is at the heart of what we do, working to enable children to grow creatively and to achieve their best in a happy and secure environment.
The project, supported by The Nineveh Charitable Trust and The Norman Family Trust, encourages schools across Devon to plant trees.

📜✨ Year 3/4 Step Back in Time! ✨📜
We’ve kicked off our Summer 2 History topic: Ancient Egypt! 🏺🌞
This week, we’ve been busy creating timelines to uncover just how long ago the Ancient Egyptians lived, asking big, investigable questions like “How were the pyramids built?” and “What did they believe about the afterlife?” 👀🔍
We also discovered what it means to be an Egyptologist—turns out, it’s a bit like being a detective of the past! 🕵️♂️🗺️
We can’t wait to explore more about this fascinating civilisation! 🇪🇬💫

Welcome back Year 1/2! What a start to the final half term. Year 1 have been exploring all the different leaves we could find around the school during Science. We then looked at the similarities and differences between them.
Year 2 have been researching the threats and dangers to a range of animals in the world. This is supporting our knowledge and understanding with our current class story 'The Last Wolf'.

🌍💧 Year 3/4 Geography Showcase! 💧🌍
We’ve just wrapped up our Geography unit on rivers and how they are used — and what a fantastic journey it has been! 🗺️
Our young geographers built their very own river models using recycled materials and aluminium foil. Each model showed a river’s journey from the source, winding through valleys, all the way down to the sea. 🌊🏞️
Teamwork was key! 🤝 Students worked together to plan, design, and construct their rivers, ensuring they clearly demonstrated each stage of a river’s course.
They also explored how people use rivers in different ways:
🏘️ Settlements and transport routes near the riverbanks
🌾 Farms on flat, fertile land
🎣 Fishing and hiking higher up in the mountains
...and more!
We’re incredibly proud of the creativity, collaboration, and knowledge on display. Well done, Year 3/4! 👏🌟 #GeographyInAction #CreativeClassroom #RiverModels #TeamworkMatters #PrimaryGeography

In computing, the children in Year 5 and 6 have been busy creating their own animations. Inspired by watching a 'Wallace and Gromit' video, the children set to work on creating a plasticine character. Then using still shots and small movements, produced their own mini animation clip.

It's going to be a busy day on Thursday 5th June as the Axminster staff and children will be taking part in a sponsored run organised by the PTFA. Each class will have a limited time outside on the field to see how many laps they can do. The more laps, the more money we can raise.
The children should have brought home a sponsorship form so please try and collect as many sponsors as possible. There will be a prize for the child and class who collect the most sponsorship money!

From the 3rd June to the 5th June (after the half term break), the School Council has organised a 'Walk to School' week. They delivered an assembly to the school about the positive benefits of walking to school - healthier, chance to talk to friends, less traffic and no trouble parking.
During that week, we are trying to increase the numbers that walk to school (we do recognise that this is impossible for some families travelling from a long distance). The School Council have had a go at making badges today and are in the process of making 'special' badges and certificates for that week.
We do hope that you are able to try and walk to school as much as possible.
